The U.S. aims to reduce America's greenhouse gas emissions with the goal of 50% by 2030. The synergy of supportive regulations and policies can deliver over 1 million clean energy jobs by the end of the decade across the country based on the ACP's 2021 Clean Energy Labor Supply Report. The clean power industry is ready more than ever to grow its workforce and lead the way, as our country continues to shift toward clean, affordable, accessible electricity to power American homes, businesses and communities; however, one of the biggest challenges to meeting our carbon emission goals is to have enough people trained and added into the workforce in a timely manner.
America's veterans may play a pivotal role in filling these gaps. After their time of service, our nation's veterans are looking to transition from active duty into civilian life, which would be able to benefit our country tremendously. The clean energy industry is honored to employ so many of our nation's veterans. According to the 2019 U.S. Energy & Employment Report, veterans filled about 10% of the nation's advanced energy jobs, compared to 6% of total jobs.
In addition, did you know that we have over 33,000 U.S. veterans working in wind, solar, storage and transmission in America? These men and women who have served honorably in our military find jobs in clean power at a rate 34% higher than the average U.S. industry.
In the energy efficiency industry, veterans have a critical role as well, making our homes and businesses save money and energy, while keeping our communities feel more safe and comfortable.
